Ain A’Thawwrah Oman: Photos and tips

Posted on February 4, 2026February 4, 2026

Ain A’thawwrah is about an hour and twenty-minute drive from Muscat. It’s a relaxing spot, and visitors can enjoy the warm spring water and walk around the village.

You only need to walk a few minutes to reach the spring after parking the car. I stayed about an hour, but spent more time walking around the old village and exploring beyond the spring.

Below are a few photos to give a sense of the area, followed by a few tips.

Visitor tips for Ain A’Thawwrah Oman

The area gets busy after 9:00 am, so it’s best to arrive early to enjoy it without the crowd. Make sure to bring water and snacks, and a picnic is possible here.

Location

Ain A’Thawwrah is on Maps. It’s part of Nakhal, which is north of Muscat. The drive is about an hour and twenty minutes away.

Hiking

For those wanting to explore a little bit, there is a dry wadi after the main spring. I only walked about twenty minutes because it was mid-morning and already hot, so I don’t know where the gravel path leads to. I plan to return and explore this area further.

Cafe

Keytha Cafe is two minutes from the parking lot. I had an iced latte after my walk which hit the spot. You can sit outside on cooler days or enjoy the AC indoors.

The spring water is an ideal spot and not a far drive from Muscat. You’ll feel relaxed after coming here, and you’ll want to return. If you’re looking for other villages to visit, check out my post here.
