Eid Mubarak to you and your families.
Looking for places to visit during the Eid holiday? There are plenty of things to do from wadis to villages or even the mountains.
Below are some ideas of places to visit in Oman during Eid.
Wadi Bani Khalid

This wadi is a popular place, so expect a lot of crowds, especially during the holiday. But the nice thing about Wadi Bani Khalid is that there is not a lot of hiking, and it’s kid-friendly.
After parking, the first pool is about a five-minute walk away. Visitors can stay here or continue walking toward another pool.
There is a restaurant here but also a nice place to picnic. It’s about two hours and forty-five minutes from Muscat.
Ain A’thawwrah

Located in Nakhal, about an hour and twenty minutes from Muscat, this spring is another relaxing place. Swimming or dipping your feet in and enjoying a pedicure from the fish nibbling at your feet is possible.
There’s also a coffee shop, Keytha Cafe, near the parking, which is a great place to cool off and enjoy a refreshing drink with lovely decor. This spring is another excellent choice of places to visit in Oman during Eid.
Wadi Hoqain

Located in Rustaq, this beautiful wadi has four swimming pools. Walk down the stairs from the parking lot and follow the path. You’ll see red, yellow, and white flags on the rocks. Eventually, go toward the left, and the first pool will be there. The pools are about 10-20 meters.
Samail

Samail is about an hour from Muscat and another option of places to visit in Oman during Eid. Visit Samail Castle or walk around the village and admire the old homes, farms, and doors.
There is also a date factory. You can not go in the back to see production, but you can buy dates.
Saiq Village

Located in Al Kamil, Saiq Village is about an hour and forty-five minutes from Sur. One can walk around the farms or through the dry wadi until reaching a pool of turquoise water.
Go through the farms and follow the filaj until it ends, and then walk around boulders and loose rocks for about twenty minutes before reaching the beautiful pool of water.
I came here with friends once, and we had a picnic after swimming.
Al Ashkarah

For cooler weather, drive to Al Ashkara and enjoy both views. There’s the desert on one side and sea views on the other. The waves are usually too rough to swim, but having a picnic and walking along the beach is possible.
I also like going to the fishing port in the early morning to watch the boats head out for fishing. Al Askarah is another good spot for places to visit in Oman during Eid.
Jebel Shams

Drive to the mountains to cool off. If you’re looking for a medium-level hike, do the balcony walk. Follow the red, yellow, and white painted flags on the rocks. Jebel Shams is known as the Grand Canyon of Oman.
I’ve always camped at Jebel Shams, but there are hotels like Jebel Shams Resort and Sama Heights Resort. I do not have reviews for these hotels, but these are options for those who choose not to camp.
Jebel Akhdar

Another place to cool off and visit in Oman during Eid s Jebel Akhdar. One can wander around Al Aqr, Al Qyn, and Ash Shirayjah’s villages while admiring farms, layered terraces, and old mud homes.
My friends and I have stayed at Rose’s House and The Suwgra. The Suwgra is a historical village, about a twenty-five-minute drive from the three villages.
For booking, check Instagram @roses_house_oman and @thesuwgra.
You will need a four-wheel for Jebel Akhdar and Jebel Shams.
